Resolution 15365CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 15365 AMENDING THE FIRE GRANT FUNDS BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR 2017-18 BY $170,000 FOR COSTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE EXTENSION OF THE COMMUNITY PARAMEDICINE PILOT PROJECT WHEREAS, on June 2, 2015, the City Council did adopt a budget representing the financial plan for conducting the affairs of the City of Alameda for the Fiscal Year beginning July 1, 2015 and ending June 30, 2017; and WHEREAS, on July 29, 2014, City Council authorized the Fire Department to participate in the Community Paramedicine Pilot Project, add an additional Division Chief and two Community Paramedic Firefighter positions, and to backfill regular fire staff, including the hiring of three limited term firefighters; and WHEREAS, on January 22, 2015, the City Manager entered into a funding agreement with the County of Alameda, which initiated the Fire Department's participation in the Pilot Project.; and WHEREAS, on November 14, 2017, the Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development (OSHPD) extended the Community Paramedicine Pilot Project from three years to four years in order to collect additional data needed to fully analyze the outcomes of the Pilot Project, as well as determine the future of Community Paramedicine in the state; and WHEREAS, the agreement with the County of Alameda will be amended to increase funding by an additional $340,000 and extend the Community Paramedicine Pilot Program by 12 months to November 13, 2018; and WHEREAS, the Fire Grant Fund will need to be increased by $170,000 for the remainder of Fiscal Year 2017-18; and WHEREAS, the Council has considered the report and recommendations of the City Manager on the budget amendments and has determined that the budget amendments are both fair and appropriate; and WHEREAS, this budget ensures that the City of Alameda has exercised prudent judgment in its fiduciary responsibility as guardian of the public tax dollars. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that budget amendment to the City's Fire Grant Fund for Fiscal Year 2017-18 Budget is approved, by changing expenditure estimates by $170,000.
