APPROVING PROJECTS TO BE PAID FOR BY THE STATE'S ROAD
MAINTENANCE AND REHABILITATION ACCOUNT FOR FISCAL
YEAR 2018-2019
WHEREAS, Senate Bill 1 (SB1) established a Road Maintenance and
Rehabilitation Account (RMRA) to address deferred maintenance on the state highway
system and on the local street and road system; and
WHEREAS, SB1 established requirements for holding local governments
accountable for the efficient use of public funds to maintain public streets and roads; and
WHEREAS, SB1 requires cities and counties to provide basic annual RMRA
project reporting to the California Transportation Commission; and
WHEREAS, in order for the City to receive anticipated RMRA funds from the State
of California pursuant to SB1 in a given fiscal year, a city or county must submit to the
CTC an annual list of projects proposed to be funded with RMRA funds; and
WHEREAS, the list of projects proposed to receive funding must be adopted at a
regular public meeting.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED, that:
The following maintenance projects are planned for approval in FY 2018-19, and
Public Works is authorized to submit to the California Transportation Commission as
required by S131, RMRA Act of 2017:
1) Pavement Management (Project #91810). This project resurfaces and repairs
street pavement, and restoration of flowlines of associated curb and gutter, in
order to extend the life of the street and improve its ride -ability for cyclists and
motorists. Repairs are spread throughout the City, and construction is
estimated to begin in May 2019 and conclude in November 2019.
2) Sidewalk Repairs (Project #91801): This project repairs sidewalk to maintain
pedestrian circulation and safety, and minimize future damage by tree roots to
the street and sidewalk. Repairs are spread throughout the City, and
construction will be completed by June 2019.
3) Traffic Signals and Calming (Project #91812): This project repairs and
upgrades traffic signals, and evaluates and installs traffic calming measures.
Repairs are spread throughout the City, and construction will be completed by
June 2019.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and
regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a regular meeting
assembled on the 17th day of April 2018, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Ezzy Ashcraft, Matarrese, Oddie, Vella and
Mayor Spencer — 5.
NOES: None.

ABSTENTIONS: None.
