AUTHORIZE THE CITY MANAGER TO AMEND THE FISCAL YEAR
(FY) 2020-21 BUDGET IN THE COMMERCIAL REVITALIZATION
FUND TO PROVIDE $100,000 IN MATCHING FUNDS FOR THE
ALAMEDA COUNTY CARES GRANT PROGRAM
WHEREAS, The Alameda County Board of Supervisors recently redirected $3
million in CARES Act funds for a dollar -for -dollar local government matching fund for a
small business grant program in response to the economic, health and safety impacts of
the COVID-19 pandemic; and
WHEREAS, providing $100,000 for the local government matching fund grants
program would provide grants for 40 Alameda -based businesses; and
WHEREAS, on November 17, 2020, the Alameda City Council accepted the Status
Report of the City's Economic Recovery Task Force, which found that many local small
businesses that have reopened report higher expenses and reduced revenues; and
WHEREAS, the Status Report of the City's Economic Recovery Task Force also
found that the City may experience a wave of small business closures in the next six
months due to depleted reserves and savings.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda
hereby amends the FY 2020-21 budget in the Commercial Revitalization Fund (228) to
appropriate $100,000 from the fund balance to make available matching funds for the
Alameda County CARES Grant Program.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and
regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a regular meeting
assembled on the 1 st day of December 2020 by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, Knox White, Oddie, Vella and
Mayor Ezzy Ashcraft — 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
