VNUIMEAS, under Chapter 1023, 1947 Statutes of California, (adding Section
10.1 to the Political Code) the le-islative body of any city or district may, by
ordinance or resolution, provide that every Saturday is a holiday as respects the
transaction of business in the public office of such cities or districts, except
that provisions shall be nuade for the continuance of essential public services such
ad police and fire protection';
