MAREAS 9 the City of Alamada is a Emnicipal corporation organized and
existing under and by virtue of a freeholders charter adopted pursuant to the pro-
visions of the Constitution and laws of the State of California; and
WKEREAS, this City Council of the City of Mameda is, under and b7 virtue
of the aforesaid freeholders charter, the govorning body of the City of Alaneda: and.
t1n,nre has been filed with the City Clerk of this City requests
from property owners representing rental units within tlils (.-!Pt7y, asle,-11-Tig Vnat dne
and regular rroceedings be taken to ascertain and find whether or not there no
longer exists such a shortage in rental housing acconnodations as to require rent
control in the City of Alameda; and
WHEMAS, after due consideration of such requests, this Ktv Council, on
August 21, 1951, in accordance with applicable local laws, adopted it! Resolution
No. 4442 calling a special nenting and setting a time, to -wit, September 4, 1951,
at the hour of 9:00 o'clock P. n., and a place, to -wit, the Council Chamber of the
City .?all, Santa Clara Avenue and Oak Strect, in the City of Alaneda, County of
Alameda, State of California, for a publi,c hearing before this City Council, at
which hearing all persons havin7 any pertirent evidence on the question of whether
or not there exists a shorta;e of rental housing in tie City of Alameda and any
other evidence relevant thereto mi7ht appear and be heard thereon; and

determines that due notice of a public hearinf in form and substance as hereinabove
set forth was given for ten (10) days prior to the public hearing >creinafter
nentioned; and

lic hearing, this City Council of the CK7 of Alameda, consistirg of five (5) mem-
bers, all of said members beIrs: ,_resent, met and convened in session at the Council
Chamber of the City Hall, Sang Clara Avenue and Oak Street, in the City of Alameda,
County of Alameda, Stato of CalifornAa, at the hour of 9:00 o'clock P. M. on the
4th day of September, 1951, and thereat those persons then and there present, other
than members of the City Council, were informed of their and each of thotr rights
to be heard concerning the question whether or not there no longer exists such a
shortage of rental housing accommodations as to require rent control in the City
of Alameda; and
at such nublic hearins evidence both oral and written was offered,
roceived and heard by the members of the City Council of the City of Alameda, and
no further evidenco being offered, the question of whether or not there no longer
eMsts such a shortage of rental housing accomnodations as to require rent control
in the City of Alameda was submitted to and taken under advisement by said WtT
Council for consideration and final determination of finding as to facts, and said
Council boing fully advised in the prenises;

all cf the foregoing recitals are true and correct;
RESOINED9 FIM71411, that after full consideration of all the evidence of-
fered, received and heard at said public hearing so held and had, as aforesaid, the
City Council of the City of Alameda finds that there no longer exists such a short -
7e in rental housing accommodations in the City uf Alameda as to require rent con-
trol in said City of Alameda, a monicipal corporation existing under a freeholders
charter, located in the County of Alameda, State of CaliCorn1a;
BE !T FURTEER RESOINED, that in accordance with app lWable local law and
based upon the finding by the City Council of the City of Alameda that there no
longer exists such a shortage in. rental housl.r.!7,acconr,,�i,odations as to require rent
control in the City of Alameda, the City Council of the City of Alameda adapts this
resolution for the purpose of terminating in the said City of Alameda the provisions
of the Housing and 2ent Act of 1947, as amended.
