RESOLUTION NO. 1 688
MEMORIALIZIN'rr THE FEDERAL GOV1�,RNTENT IN THE MATTER OF
TEMPORARY WAR HOUSING
WHEREAS, in many cities temporary war housing was constructed as an
emergency measure; and
WHEREAS, such construction generally was not in accord with health and
building requirements* and
P
WHEREAS, the concentration of people has created munerous social and health
problems; and
WHEREAS,, the Federal Government has no schedule for the disposition of these
temporary war housing projects,
NOW THEREFORE, B`IT RESOLV:E,,D BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that
its position in the matter of the maintenance and continuation of temporary war
housing in the City of Alameda is as follows:
1. That federal standards, including density of population, provision
of adequate play space, off-street parking and other matters related
to reasonable living, should be evolved and applied to those projects
which are to continue for the duration of the emergency.
2. That the projects en read casted should be maintained in accord with
reasonable standards.
3. That the cities should receive greatf�r in lieu payments commensurate
with the actual cost of services rendered.
That a positive federal plan should be developed for the termination
of temporary war housing.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was dilly
and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in
adjourned regular meeting assembled on the 9th day of December, 1952, by the
following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Anderson, Branschoid, Jones, Sweeney and President
Osborn, (5).
NOES: None,
ABSENT: None.
