Resolution 04898M RESOLUTION50. 4898 IN MEMORIAM TO DR. TILLIAM G. PADEN WITH PROFOUND AND FEARTFELT SORROW the Council of the City of Alameda records the death of one of its nost notnble end civic ninded citizens, Dr. William G. Paden, who devoted his entire time and effort to the field of edncation and who wave unstintingly of his grent tPlent to the Promotion of interest and research in history. Dr. Paden's onreer Ps an educetor began Ps P toacher at Porter School in 1908. He wps later appointed Vice Principal of Wilson School and then, in January of 191U, he became Principal of Lincoln School where he remained until his appoint- ment as Su - nerintendent of Alameda Schools in July, 1925). Dr. Paden served in this capacity until his resi7nation in 1952, at which time he was retained as a consultant to the Board of Education. His outstandinF capabilities were further acknowledged. Ira his recent nppointment as the Chairman of the California Historical FoundnKon at the College of Pacific whore he had been a Profossor of History since January of this year. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that, in respectful adniration of his fine leadership in his chosen field, the high standard of education set by Dr. Paden for a the Alameda Unified School District and in recognition of his many years of community service, the Council of the City of Alameda hereby expresses its sense of personal, loss and its sincere gratitude for his personal cooperation in the affairs of the City.
