AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2022-23 GENERAL FUND
OPERATING BUDGET TO TRANSFER $167,000 FROM NON -
DEPARTMENTAL TO THE POLICE AUDITOR DIVISION IN THE CITY
ATTORNEY'S OFFICE
WHEREAS, on June 15, 2021, the City Council did adopt a budget representing
the financial plan for conducting the affairs of the City of Alameda for the Fiscal Year
beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2023; and
WHEREAS, the adopted budget for fiscal year (FY) 2022-23 included an
allocation of $300,000 in General Fund — Non -Departmental for a Police Auditor
function; and
WHEREAS, on November 1, 2022, City Council provided direction to
establish a civilian police oversight program, through an Independent Police
Auditor position reporting to the City Attorney; and
WHEREAS, staff js,proposing to transfer $167,000 from General Fund — Non -
Departmental for setting up a new I5olice Auditor Division under the City Attorney's Office
in the General Fund (ORG 10023044) in FY 2022-23, as follows:
WHEREAS, the Council has considered the report and recommendations of staff
on the budget amendments and has determined that the budget amendments are both
fair and appropriate; and
WHEREAS, this budget ensures that the City of Alameda has exercised prudent
judgment in its fiduciary responsibility as guardian of the public tax dollars.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that
the budget amendments to the City's FY 2022-23 Budget in the General Fund is
approved, by transferring $167,000 in expenditure budget from Non -Departmental to the
Police Auditor Division in the City Attorney's Office.
