AMENDING THE FISCAL YEAR 2024-2025 BUDGET BY
TRANSFERRING $732,577 OF PUBLIC SAFETY DEVELOPMENT
IMPACT FEE (FUND 308) FUND BALANCE TO THE VEHICLE
REPLACEMENT FUND (FUND 601) AND INCREASING THE FISCAL
YEAR 2024-25 VEHICLE REPLACEMENT EXPENDITURE BUDGET BY
$1,328,578
WHEREAS, on June 18, 2024, the City Council did adopt a budget representing
the financial plan for conducting the affairs of the City of Alameda for the Fiscal Year (FY)
beginning July 1, 2024 and ending June 30, 2025; and
WHEREAS, a fire apparatus engine is approaching its twelve years of frontline
service life expectancy and lead times for new orders of fire apparatus is 45-48 months
due to supply challenges and increased demand for manufacturing; and
WHEREAS, if purchase of the replacement fire apparatus is made now, the
existing engine will still be required to be in service for three years past the frontline life
expectancy of the apparatus; and
WHEREAS, pricing for new fire apparatus increases in May 2025; and
WHEREAS, due to the long lead times for new apparatus and imminent price
increases, City staff recommends advancing the purchase of a replacement fire
apparatus now; and
WHEREAS, $596,000 has accrued in the Vehicle Replacement Fund (Fund 601)
for the fire apparatus engine approaching its frontline service life; and
WHEREAS, the additional funding needed to make the purchase is available in the
Public Safety Development Impact Fee Fund (Fund 308);
WHEREAS, the Council has considered the report and recommendations of the
City Manager on the budget amendment and has determined that the budget amendment
is both fair and appropriate; and
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that
the budget amendment for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Budget is approved to transfer
$732,577 from the Public Safety Development Impact Fee (Fund 308) fund balance to
the Vehicle Replacement Fund (Fund 601) and to increase appropriations by $1,328,578
to 60141581-81050.

regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a regular meeting
assembled on the 6th day of May 2025, by the following vote to wit:
