AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE ALL
NECESSARY DOCUMENTS WITH THE RESILIENT CITIES
CATALYST TO ACCEPT $40,000 IN GRANT FUNDING FOR SOUTH
SHORE GEOMORPHOLOGY AND ECOLOGY STUDY AND
INCREASING THE FISCAL YEAR 2025-26 REVENUE AND
EXPENDITURE BUDGETS OF CAPITAL IMPROVEMENT FUND
(C71600) BY $40,000
WHEREAS, the City of Alameda (City) was invited to join the California Coastal
Accelerator inaugural cohort along with the cities of Oceanside, Santa Barbara, Santa
Cruz and Fort Bragg, and
WHEREAS, the Coastal Accelerator is managed by the Resilient Cities Catalyst
(RCC). The cohort is facilitated by the Resilient Cities Catalyst and will support cities with
project advancement, staff leadership development, accessing additional adaptation
resources, and statewide learning and policy advocacy, and
WHEREAS, new Cohort members will receive tailored support for project
development, permitting, partnership-building, and implementation funding strategies,
including up to $100,000 in direct grant dollars, and
WHEREAS, the City has a need to conduct a geomorphology and ecology study
to understand sand movement along Crown Beach, South Shore Beach, Elsie Roemer
Bird Sanctuary, and within the San Leandro Bay Estuary and address a key uncertainty
for the implementation of nature-based strategies in these areas and help address future
sea level rise and coastal erosion, and
WHEREAS, the RCC has agreed to support funding a portion of the City of
Alameda's geomorphology study with a portion of the Coastal Accelerator grant funds,
and
WHEREAS, there is need to amend the Fiscal Year 2025-26 capital improvement
fund (C71600) revenue and expenditure budgets to accept the grant.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council hereby authorizes
the Interim City Manager or their designee to negotiate and execute a grant agreement
and all necessary documents between the Resilient Cities Catalyst and the City of
Alameda to accept $40,000 in grant funds for the South Shore Geomorphology and
Ecology Study and to amend the Fiscal Year 2025-26 revenue and expenditure budgets
of Capital Improvement Fund (C71600) by $40,000.

regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a regular meeting
assembled on the 6th day of January 2026, by the following vote to wit:
