REGULAR METING OF THE COUNCIL OF T T-TE CITY OF ALAIvIED&.,
• TUESDAY EVENING, APRIL 2ND, 1918 .
The meeting convened at 8:01 p. m, with Council—president Majors presi ding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Latham, Noy, Otis , Probst and President Majors
were noted present. Absent:None.
The minutes of the regular meeting of March 19th, 1918 were approved as read.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of March 21st were approved as
read.
1. Mr . Probst introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 122.
Transferring ?20,000 from the Electric Light Fund to
the General Fund. TT
Mr , Otis seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted
and. passed unanimously.
2. • I: r. Otis introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
T'Resoli.tion No. 123.
Transferring 3,281.25 from the Electric Light Fund
to the Interest and Redemption Fund. "
Mr. Probst seconded the motion to ado-rt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.
The following was received:

Ordered filed.
The following communications we:ce received:
4. From City Manager Hewes stating that the Committee appointed for the
opening, widening and extending of Clement Avenue as an Industrial Highway is
confronted by so many problems in connection therewith, that it finds it impossible
to make a report and asks for further time. Mr. Latham moved. that the request be
granted seconded by kr. Probst and carried.
5. From the State Board. of Health calling attention to the necessity of the
City of Alameda to apply for a permit to use the sewer system in accordance with
Chapter 600, Statutes of 1917 . Ordered. filed.
6. Mr. Probst introduced the following resolution and moved. its adoption:
"Resolution No. 124.
Making Application to the State Board. of Health to Use
Existing Sewers and Authorizing the City Manager to Sign
and File Applications with the State Board of Health. "
Mr. Otis seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted
and passed unanimously.
7. From Frank B. Craig, asking for permission to move six houses now located
on the north side of Buena Vista Avenue, between Paru and Hibbard Streets, to 'a
lot situated on the southwest corner of Buena Vista Avenue and Schiller Street .
Mr. Otis moved that the request be granted subject to the fulfillment of conditions
as required in the municipal code , seconded. by Mr. Probst and carried.
8. From Commissioner VJ. H. Edwards of Oakland submitting a copy of the rep' t
made by him on the fish q uestion to the Council of the City of Oakland. Mayor
Majors stated that he had been meeting with the Commissioner oner on the subject in an
April 2nd, 1918 .
9. Mr. Probst introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 125.
Authorizing the City Manager to Advertise for Bids
for Sale of Food Refuse. 'r
Ate'. i 3y seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously. __
10. A resolution was submitted by the Board of Education asking for the purchase
of the property owned by J. L. Faust for the use of the Longfellow School. Ordered
filed.
A Bill entitled

Providing for the Acquiring by the City of
Alameda of Certain Real Property for the Use
and Benefit of the Public Schools of said City.IL
was thereupon introduced and laid over under a provision of the Charter.
11. A Bill entitled
"TA Bill
For Ordinance No. New Series.
Providing for Licensing and Regulating Certain
Businesses Carried on by Persons Conducting
Amusement Parks and Recreation Grounds Within
the City of Alameda. "
came up for passage, the same having not been advertised within the proper time.
Mr . Probst moved that it be adopted, seconded by Mr. Latham and on roll call
it was adopted and passed unanimously.
12. .Er. Latham moved that when the Council adjourn, it adjourn to meek in
adjourned regula r session Tuesday evening, April 9th, 1918, seconded by Mr .
Probst and carried.
13. - Mr. Latham moved that the City Manager be instructed to exchange deeds
with the Barnes & Tibbitts Company to acq uire a strip of land leading from
Clement Avenue to Grand Street for the use of the spur track into the corporation
yard and to relinquish therefor, twenty feet along Clement Avenue and abutting
the Barnes & Tibbitts Company, which strip was heretofore deeded to the City
for street purposes, seconded by Mr. Noy and carried.
14. City Engineer Hickok submitted plans and specifications for the improvement
of the foot of Bay Street. Mr. Latham moved that the plans and specifications
be adopted and that the work be done at a cost not to exceed $100.00, seconded
by Mr. Noy and on roll call carried unanimously.
Claims against the General Fund a mounting to $2968.61; against the Police
Fund amounting to $72.08 ; against the Fire Fund amounting to 0138.87; against
the Health Fund amounting to $69.06 ; against the/Street Fund amounting to 4279.42;
against the Relief Fund amounting to $18.69; against the Recreation Fund amounting
to $119.69; against the Park Fund amounting to $13.96;: against the Electric Light
Fund amounting to $4628.29 ; against the Fare Pension Fund amounting to $71.43;
against the Police Pension Fund amounting! to 0862.50; against the Store Fund
amounting to $101.80 and against Munici )al Improvansn.t Fund No. 11, amounting to
02400 .00 having been approved and audited by the proper officials were listed by
the Clerk as follows:—
