CITY OF ALr'AMEDA, TUi SDAY EVENING, ARIL 9,1918.
The meeting convened at e:07 p , m. with Council—president Majors presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Latham, Noy, Otis, Probst and President
Majors , (5) were noted present . Absent:None .
A request for a gratuitous, license was received from Mrs. Amparo Lewis
to peddle tamales. As the same bore the endo-r sea ent of 7. 0. Jacoby, Chief
of Police, and the City Manager, Charles E. Hewes, Mr. Probst moved that the
license be granted, seconded by Mr . Troy and carried.

was introduced and laid over under a provision of the Charter.
A claim against the Relief Fund amounting to 0_0.00 having been approved
and audited by the proper officials was listed by the Clerk as follows :

I: . Probst moved that the claim as listed be paid, seconded by Mr . Otis
and on roll call carried unanimously.
2. v An Affidavit showing due publication of Notice Inviting Bids for the Sale
of Food Refuse was presented and ordered filed. In response to said notice the
Clerk stated that he was in receipt of two bids. Mr. Otis moved that the Rids
be uponed, seconded by Mr. Probst and carried. Thereupon the Clerk opened the
bids and read as follows :
From D. 0. Lively Company - 03.00 per ton of food refuse.
From ';W. L. Bohannan, . ,.26 per ton of food refuse.
Each bid was accompanied by a certified check in the sum of 500.00.
i; r. Otis moved that the bids be referred to the City Manager to report back to
the Council, seconded by Mr . Probst and carried.
3. ✓ An Affidavit showing due publication of "Notice Inviting Sealed Proposals
for Furnishing Materials and Labor for the Laying of a singe track along
Clement Avenue beginning at the intersection of Clement Avenue, with the westerly
property line of the Southern Pacific Railroad Company and extending Westerly
along said Avenue to the westerly line of Grand Street. " was presented and ordered
filed. In response to said notice the Clerk stated he was in receipt of twelve
bids. P1L't. Latham moved that the bids be opened, seconded by Mr. Noy and carried,
thereupon the Clerk opened and read the bids as follows:

Mr. Otis moved that when the Courcil adjourn, it adjourn to meet in adjourned
regular session, Thursday evening, April llth, 1918, at 7;30 p. m., seconded by Mr.
Latham and carried.
14 . v A communication was received from the Union Iron marks Athletic Club asking for
permission to hold an entertainment on the 24th of April at Eagles Hall. Mr.
Probst moved that the request be granted , seconded by Mr . Hoy and carried.
There being no further business to transact the Council adjourned to meet in
adjourned regular session Thursday evening, April llth, 1918, at 7:30 o'clock.
