ADJOURNED REGULAR N7ET]ITG OF THE COUNCIL OP TEE CITY OP ALAa7ED ,
THUESDAY EVENING, APRIL 11TH, 1918.
The meting convened at 7;40 p. n. with Council-president Majors presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Latham, Noy, Otis and President Majors,
(4) were noted present. Absent ; Councilman Probst, (1) .
1. A communication was received from E. Howard Baxter asking for a thirty
day extension on his leave of absence, Mr. Otis moved that the request be granted,
seconded by Mr. Latham and carried.
2. `� Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption;
"Resolution No. 126.
Transferring $8,000.00 From the Electric Light
Fund to the General Fund. "
Mr. Noy seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passedunanimously.
3. / City Manager Hewes reported that the bid of Arthur J. Grier for the laying
of the Railroad Track on Clement Avenue and the furnishing of all labor and materials
except ties and ballast rock was the lowest, the figure approximating $19,619.00;
that the bid of the Waddell- Van Gundy Lumber Company for furnishing redwood ties
at 01.03 each, was the lowest bid for ties and that rock could be bought cheapest
in the open market . Mr . Otis thereupon introduced the following Resolution and
moved its adoption;
"Resolution No. 127.
Awarding Contract for Construction of Railroad Track
On Clement Avenue from Broadway to Grand Street, to
Arthur J. Grier; Also Awarding Contract for Redwood
Ties for such "!ork to Waddell-Van Gundy Lumber Company;
Also Rejecting All other Bids Filed and Authorizing
the City Manager to Enter Into A Contract with Said
Arthur J. Grier and said Waddell Van Gundy Lumber Com-
pany and also Authorizing the City Manager to Go Into
the Open Market and Purchase the Ballast Rock which may
be Needed for Such Tork."
Mr. Latham seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it
was adopted and passed unanimously.
4. / Mr . Latham moved that the certified check of the unsuccessful bidders be
returned, seconded by Mr. Noy and carried.
There being no further business to transact the Council adjourned to meet
in regular session, Tuesday evening, April 16th, 1918, at 8 o 'clock.
