REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAL DA,
TUESDAY EVENING, DECEMBER 3RD, 1918 .
The meeting convened at 8 :07 p. m. with Council-president Majors presiding.
The roll was called and Councilmen Latham, Noy, Otis, Probst and President
Majors , (5) were noted present . Absent :None .
The minutes of the regular meeting of November 19th, 1918 were approved
as read.
The minutes of the adjourned regular meeting of November 25th, 1918 were
approved as read.
1. / County Surveyor Perry Haviland .as present and explained to the members of
the Council the method of procedure for the repairing of the Webster Street
Bridge. No action of any kind was taken.
2. V Mr. A. K. Tichenor, Vice-president of the Alaska Packers Association
was present and some discussion was had on procuring a right of way through the
Association' s property for the industrial highway and a high tension power line.
The matter was referred to a Committee meeting to be held Tuesday evening,
December 10th, and the Clerk was instructed to communicate with Southern
Pacific officials as well as with Alaska Packers Association representatives
requesting them to be present on that evening.
3. ✓ A Bill entitled
" A BILL
For Ordinance No. New Series.

Providing For the Acquiring by the City of Alameda
of certain Real Property to be Used for Public Park
and Recreation Purposes."
came up for passage and was read by the Clerk. Mr. Otis moved that the Ordinance u
be adopted, seconded by Mr. Probst and on roll call it was adopted and passed
unanimously.
4. c7 Mr. Probst thereupon intorduced the following Resolution and moved its
adopt ion:
"Resolution No. 173.
Transferring $8,236.41 from the General Fund to the
Park Purchase Fund. "
Mr. Latham seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.
5. // Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 174.
Accepting a Loan of Certain Bonds From the Board of
Public Utilities and Agreeing to Return to said Board of
Public Utilities said Bonds on or Before December third, 1919 ."
Mr. :Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was
adopted and passed unanimously.
6 . A BILL entitled
"A BILL
for Ordinance No. New Series .
Providing for the Granting of a Permit to the De
Luxe Transportation Company, a Corporation, to
Engage in the Business of Transporting Passengers ,
Freight, Baggage and Express for Hire Over the

came up for .passage. Mr. Otis moved that the Ordinance be adopted, seconded by Mr.
Latham and on roll call it was adopted and pa ssed unanimously.
The following communications were received:
7. ✓ Prom A. W. Pattiani, submitting pla ns and specifications for a monument to
commemorate the services of the soldiers of Alameda. Referred to the next Committee
of the whole meeting.
8. /7 Prom E. Todd Buck asking the Council to begin proceedings for the improvement
of Madison Street west of Mound Street . Communications were also received from
Maurice Rosenthal and Conrad Roth protesting against this work and as they constitute
a majority against the work no action was taken. The Clerk was instructed to notify
Mr. Buck.
9. From E. K. Taylor, President of the Alameda Chapter of American Red Cross
giving a report of the money expended which had been received from the Council of the
City of Alameda and submitting a check of 250.00 which amount remained unexpended .
The communication was ordered filed and the check deposited with the Treasurer.
10. / Mr. Probst introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 175.
Confirming and Approving the Appointment of Three
.Commissioners to Consider the Question of Acquiring
a Joint Water Supply for the East Bay Cities."
Mr. Otis seconded the mot ion to adopt the Resolution an d on roll call it was adopted
and passed unanimously.
11. 7 Mr. Latham introduced the following Resolution and moved its adoption:
"Resolution No. 176.
Fixing Salary of Gardeners. "
Mr. Probst seconded the motion to adopt the Resolution and on roll call it was adopted
and passed unanimously.
Claims against the General Fund amounting to 007.97; against the Police Fund
amounting to 04.00 ; against the Fire Fund amounting to ;.652.41; against the
Street Fund amounting to ;1256.89; against the Health Fund amounting to `8u.30; against
the Recreation Fund amounting to I159.54; against the Store Fund amounting to 0.0.50 ;
against the Relief Fund amounting to 95.04 ; against the Electric Light Fund amounting
to 6292 .59 ; and against the Park Purchase Fund amounting to e10,135.50 having been
approved and audited by the proper officials were listed by ; the Clerk as follows :

Mr. Otis moved that when the Council adjourn it adjourn to meet in adjourned
regular meeting Tuesday evening, December 10th, 1918 at 8 o' clock, seconded by Mr.
Latham and carried.
There being no further business to transact the Council adjourned to meet in
adjourned regular meeting Tuesday evening, D ecember 10th, 1918, at 8 o 'clock.
