1918-12-10 Regular CC Minutes 104 ADJOURNED REGULAR MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA, TUESDAY EVENING, DECEMBER 10TH, 1918. The meeting convened at 8 :15 p. m. with Council-president Majors presiding. The roll was called and C uncilmen Latham, Noy, Otis, Probst and President Majors , (5) . were noted present . Absent :None. 1. / Communications were received from the Park Street Merchant ' s Association and the Alameda Chamber of Commerce requesting the payment of the salaries of the employees of the City a day or two before Christmas. Mr. Henry Rosenthal representing the Park Street Merchants ' Association was present and addressed the Council on the subject. Mr. Otis moved that the salaries be paid to those who desired them up to and including the 23rd of December, 1918 , seconded by Mr. Probst and on roll call carried unanimously. A claim against the Park Purchase Fund in the sum of ' 12,864.50 was presented. Mr. Probst moved that the calim be paid, seconded by Mr. Latham and on roll call carried unanimously. Mr. Latham moved that the Council resolve itself into a Committee of the Whol to discuss such business as m ,y. come before it, seconded by Mr. Noy and carried. Upon reconvening the following were noted present: Councilmen Latham, Noy, Otis, Probst and President Majors, (5) . 2. ✓ An. application was received from the American Dredging Company for a permit to deposit dredged materials from the site of the Rolph Shipbuilding Company on to the pro-perty owned by L. A. Petersen. Mr. Probst moved that it be the sense of the Council that a permit be granted to the American Dredging Company to deposit dredged materials from the site of the Rolph Shipbuilding Company's property oh to adjoining land owned by L. A. Petersen and that the City Attorney be instructed to prepare the necessary papers subject to the requirements of Ordinance No. 91, New Series , seconded by Mr. Otis and carried. 3. // A Bill entitled EA Bill For Ordinance No. New Series . Declaring the High Tension Power Lines Now Maintained by the Southern Pacific Company Upon and Along Lincoln Avenue in the City of Alameda a Menace to Life and Limb and Requiring their Removal to Another Location Here- inafter Particularly Described. " Mr. Otis moved that the word "High" street be changed to "Pearl Street" and that the ordinance as so amended be adopted, seconded by i:r. Noy and on roll call carried unanimously. 4. / A Bill entitled "A Bill For Ordinance No. New Series. Requiring Wearing of Mask During Epidemic of Influenza and Providing Penalty for Violation." was introduced and laid over under the provisions of the Charter. There being no further business to transact the Council adjourned to meet in regular session Tuesday evening, December 17th, 1918, at 8 o ' clock. Respectfully submitted,
