Background
Section 3 -7(h) of Article III of the Charter of the City of Alameda requires that the City
Council designate the person to perform the duties of the City Manager in the event of his /her
absence or disability.
Discussion
The reorganization of the City's administration was approved by the City Council in the
financial plan for fiscal years 2000 -2002. This reorganization necessitates a change in the
order of persons who perform the duties of City Manager during his /her absence or disability.
Recommendation
It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached resolution.

DESIGNATING THE PERSON TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE CITY
MANAGER IN THE EVENT OF HIS/HER ABSENCE OR DISABILITY
WHEREAS, Section 3 -7(h) of Article III of the Charter of the City of Alameda requires that
the City Council designate .the person to perform the duties of the City Manager in the event of
his/her absence or disability.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
ALAMEDA that the Assistant City Manager, Operations, is hereby designated as the person to
perform the duties of the City Manager in the event of said City Manager's absence or disability.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Assistant City Manager, Community & Economic
Development, is hereby designated as the person to perform the duties of the City Manager in the
event of the Assistant City Manager's, Operations, absence or disability.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Police Chief is hereby designated as the person to

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Public Works Director is hereby designated as the
person to perform the duties of the City Manager in the event of the Police Chief's absence or
disability.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Finance Director is hereby designated as the person
to perform the duties of the City Manager in the event of the Public Works Director's absence or
disability.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that Resolution No. 9645 relating to the same subject matter
is hereby fully and completely rescinded.

regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting
assembled on the 3rd day of October , 2000, by the following vote to wit:
