PRESCRIBING MEMBERSHIP, TERM OF OFFICE, REMOVAL,
QUALIFICATION AND VOTING PERTAINING TO THE
PUBLIC ART ADVISORY COMMITTEE
WHEREAS, at the March 4, 2003 City of Alameda City Council Meeting, the
City of Alameda City Council established the Public Art Advisory Committee, pursuant to City
of Alameda Ordinance No. 2892, New Series; and
WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2892, New Series provides that Membership, Term
of Office, Removal, Qualification and Voting Terms shall be set by resolution;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda
that the Membership, Term of Office, and Removal procedures of the Public Art Advisory
Committee shall read as follows:
Membership, Term of Office, Removal. The Committee shall consist of five (5)
members representing the community -at -large with the following qualifications:
a. Members shall be knowledgeable about contemporary visual arts, performance arts,
literary arts and public art, and be capable of engaging effectively in a jury process.
b. Members shall be open minded and responsible in terms of objectivity.
c. Members shall be respected in their field and willing to carry out the Public Art
Program policies.
All members shall, upon nomination of the Mayor, be appointed by the City
Council. The term of the members shall be four (4) years and thereafter until the successor of
such member is appointed and qualified. A vacancy in the office of any such member shall be
filled for the unexpired term by appointment in the manner hereinabove set forth. The terms
shall be staggered so that the number of terms expiring any year shall not differ more than one
(1) from the number of terms expiring in any other year.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that the
Qualification and Voting procedures of the Public Art Advisory Committee shall read as follows:
Qualification. Voting. All members of said Committee shall, at the time of their
appointment and continuously during their incumbency, be resident of the City. The vote of
three (3) members shall be necessary for any action of the Commission. Three (3) members of
the Commission shall constitute a quorum.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that this resolution shall be in full force and effect
upon the effective date of City of Alameda Ordinance No. 2892, New Series.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly
adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in a regular meeting assembled on the 1St
day of April, 2003, by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Daysog, DeWitt, Kerr, Matarrese, and Mayor
Johnson - 5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
ABSTENTIONS: None.
