Federal funds provided through the Department of Housing and Urban Development HUD determines grant amount on basis of: - poverty - population growth /lag - age of housing in the community CDBG Purpose To develop viable urban communities through provision of: - decent housing - a suitable living environment - economic opportunity Primarily for low- and moderate- income persons Five -Year Consolidated Plan Priority Needs 2005 — 2010 Jurisdictions are required to identify Housing and Community Development priorities. Priority needs identified in 2005 and affirmed in 2006 include: A Affordable Housing A Homeless A Fair Housing A Supportive Housing A Public Services A Public Facilities A Accessibility Needs A F conomic Development A Blight Clearance Recently Completed "Community Needs Assessment" Identified 6 Priority Needs Increase community knowledge of available services '`- Connect families with multiple needs to services more efficiently Improve public transportation services Continue to combat housing discrimination Improve access to affordable health services Increase support to parents FY07 - 08 CDBG Funding Anticipate approximately $1,300,000 in kntitlement funds and $185,000 in Program Income Public Services: Limited to no more than 15% of the annual Kntitlement grant and prior year's Program Income 1- 4stimate approximately $235,000 available for public services Sufficient funds to maintain public service funding (2nd year of 2 -year cycle) CDBG Funded Public Services FY06 -07 Alameda Boys & Girls Club $21,969 Alameda Food Bank $20,346 Alameda Red Cross $76,280 BANANAS, Inc. $42,384 Four Bridges $26,079 Family Violence Law Center $ 14,876 Midway Shelter $42,984 Sentinel Fair Housing * $ 15,251 Fast Bay Community Mediation ** $ 15,000 * Sentinel also receives $15,000 for fair housing services from the City's CDBG administration funds. ** F,BCM funded for FY 2006 only Annual CDBG Cycle City Council and SSHRB Needs Hearings (Dec. /Jan.)
