Date: 4/4/05 City Council Meeting
Dear Honorable Mayor and Councilmembers:
My name is Monica Pena and I live at 1361 Regent Street. I am writing this letter as a
concerned resident and property owner protecting my right to quiet enjoyment thereof.
1 have read appellant John 13arni's letters of 3/8/05 and 3/11/05, and William C. Norton's
memo dated 3/22/05.
First, 1 agree with Mr. Norton's recommendations as it pertains to the Use Permit.
Second, I agree with Mr. Barni's letter dated 3/11/05 to Mr. Cormack concerning the use
of the land should. the Veterinary Hospital close and the land sold. l live in a 1910 arts and crafts
home which is protected under the historical society. The outlaying businesses in my
neighborhood are of a professional nature. I would hope that the Honorable Mayor and
Councilmembers put the interests of this neighborhood first and protect the land from being used
as anything else other than of a professional nature. Please take the right steps necessary to
ensure retail businesses or restaurants are not permitted to use this piece of land.
Third, l also agree with Mr. Barni's suggestion to allow an open line of sight for
motorists and pedestrians. As the Park Street Business Association pushes for more businesses
on Park Street and the theater on Central Street, parking and traffic will obviously increase
dramatically causing an already unsafe less than 90 degree intersection to be more unsafe. I
repeatedly find myself, as well as the safety of my three children who walk to and from school, at
risk by motorists.
Thank you for consideration.
Sincerely, •
