AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE
ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY
ADDING TO TITLE IX THEREOF
A NEW CHAPTER AND ARTICLE
TO BE, KNOWN AS CHAPTER 6,
ARTICLE 1, RELATING TO PITS,
WELLS, SEPTIC TANKS, CESS-
POOLS OR OTHER, OPENINGS OR
EXCAVATIONS, AND REGULAT-
ING THE SAME.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
COUNCIL THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
Section 1. ,The : Alameda Municipal
Code: is hereby amended by adding
to Title IX thereof a new chapter
and article to be known as Chapter
6; Article 1, =which chapter and ar-
ticle shall contain sections num-
bered and entitled a' shereinafter
provided; and which shall read as
follows:
CHAPTER 6. PITS, WELLS, SEPTIC
TANKS, CESSPOOLS: OR OTHER
OPENINGS OR EXCAVATIONS
Article 1.
Section 9 -611. Regulation of Pits;
Wells, etc. Every' person owning
land in the City of Alameda in fee
simple,:: or in possession ..:thereof,
Linder lease, either; oral or written,
or contract :of sale, who, knowingly,
permits the existence on said .land
of any pit, well, septic tank, cess-
pool or other opening or excavation, .
dangerous to persons legally on said

1-nd or to minors under the age of
twelve (12) years, who fails to cover
or fence securely any such opening
or dangerous pit, well, septic tanks,
cesspool or other opening or excava-
tion, and at all times keep it so
protected, is guilty of a misde-
meanor.
Section. 2. This ordinance shall e
in full. force and effect from and
after the expiration of thirty (30)
days from the date of its: final
passage.
