AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE
BUILDING CODE OF THE CITY OF
A'LAMEDA BY ADDING TO SEC-
TION 1605 THEREOF A NEW .SUB-
SECTION NUMBERED (e), RELAT-
LNG TO THE FLOOR AREA OF
ONE- STORY, TYPE IV CONSTRUC-
TION BUILDINGS IN FIRE ZONE
NO, 4.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUN-
CIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA :
Section 1. That Section 1605 of The
Building Code of the City of Alameda
be, and the same is hereby amended
by adding to said section a new sub-
section numbered (e), which subsec-
tion shall read as follows:
(e) Buildings of one - story, Type
IV construction throughout, having
an occupancy of non. - combustible
use, shall be limited to a floor
area of not to exceed seventy thou-
sand (40,000) square feet, subject
to the following conditions:
(1) Metal signs shall be posted
requiring a non - combustible occu-
pancy at all times. Such signs shall
be subject to the approval of, and
shall be posted at the places in
such buildings designated by, the
Chief of the Alameda Fire Depart-
ment.
(2) Inspections of the premises
shall be made by the City Fire
Marshal or the City Building In-
spector at regular six -month in-
tervals.
(3) Such buildings shall have in-
stalled In their an automatic detec-
tion local fire alarm system, which
shall be of a design and size ap-
proved by the Chief of the Ala-
meda Fire Department. The own-
ers or occupants of such buildings
shall comply with all reasonable
regulations for fire control laid
down by the Chief of said Fire
Department.
Section 2. This ordinance shall be in
full force and effect from and after
the expiration of thirty (30) days from
the date of its final passage.
