Ordinance 1139ORDINANCE NO. 1139 New Series AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDI- NANCE 642 N. S. BY AMENDING SECTION 7 THEREOF, RELATING TO CIVIL SERVICE. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUN- CIL OF THE CITY OF AGAMEDA, as follows: Section 1: That Section 7 of Ordi- nance 642 N. S. be, and the same is hereby amended to read as follows: Section 7. Any officer or board de- siring to fill a vacancy in any position in the Civil Service, except by trans- fer within a class established pursuant to Section 4 and except by demotion or by reinstatement, shall notify; the Civil Service Board of the positions to be filled and the number of persons to be appointed. The Civil Service Board shall thereupon certify to such appointing power, from the eligible list established for the class in which such position is included, the names of eligible persons who are willing to accept such employment to the extent of the number of positions in such class to be filled plus two, except as here- inatter pp rovided. The names so certi- fied shall be those at the top Of such eligible list as determined key rating upon examination, except as herein otherwise mvided. If the number of names of ble persons who are will- ing to accept such employment is in- sufficient to certify the 'number pro- vided for herein the total available names shall be certified, in which case the appointing authority may demand that an examination be con to secure the required number of names. Section 2. This Ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the expiration of thirty (30) days from the date of its final assag S.
