An ordinance amending ordinance no 642 new series civil service ordinance by adding thereto section 5.1 relating to the reclassification of personnel
That Section 5.1 be
added to Ordinance No, 642 New
Series, which section shall read as
follows:
Section 5.1. The Civil Service
Board shall have the power to
reclassify the incumbent of an
existing position to a new ar
existing classification without ex-
arnmation when a general or
special survey of the duties of
such position reveals that the in-
cumbent has, prior to January 1,
1961, been permanently assigned
and satisfactorily performing du-
ties additional to or different
from those required by his or
her present classification. The
additional or different duties
performed must be found to be
substantially the same as those
set out m the classification to
which the employee is reclassi-
fied. Any such reclassification
shall be based upon a finding by
the C i v i l Service Board that
such additional or different du-
ties were assigned by the em-
ployee's Department Bead with

the knowledge and approval of
the Appointing Authority, such
assignment of duties having been
necessitated primarily by the
changing functions of a depart -
ment, and not by the qualifica-
tions of the incumbent. Reclassi-
fication may be to a new or
existing classification which is at
the same, a higher, or a lower
salary level than the current
classification,
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall
be in full force and effect from and
after the expiration of thirty (30)
days from the date of its final
passage.
