AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE
ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY
ADDING SECTIONS 12-421-12-422
AND 12 -423 TO ARTICLE 2, CHAP-
TER 4, TITLE XII THEREOF, RE-
LATING TO CLOTHES CLEANING
AGE CY AND VEHICLE

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
COUNCIL OF THE CITE' OF ALA -
MEI?A :
SECTION 1. That Sections 12 -421,
12-422 and 12 -423 are hereby added
to Article 2, Chapter 4, Title XII,
of the Alameda Municipal Code,
which shall read as follows:
Article 2. Dry Cleaning Estab-
lishments
Seca 12 -421. Clothes Cleaning
Agency Defined.. A "clothes clean -
ing agency" is any establishment,
premise, room, building, vehicle or
business maintained, conducted or
used for the purpose of soliciting,
receiving, acquiring or delivering
of any - wearing apparel; clothing.
furs, hats, fabrics or other textiles
or materials for the purpose of
cleaning, dyeing, renovating or
pressing the salve by any method
whatsoever, and which is not li-
censed as a clothes cleaning, dye -
ing; . pressing or similar establish-
ment, pursuant to Chapter 13, Di-
vision. 3, of the Business and Pro -
fessions Code of California.
Sec, 12- -422. Clothes Cleaning
Agency Identification. It shall be
unlawful for any person to estab-
lish, conduct, maintain or operate
any :clothes cleaning agency in the
City .. of Alarneda unless he shall
first pliace on file in the office of
the Chief of Police a certificate set -
ting forth the name and address
of the owner or owners thereof,:the
location thereof, private identifica-
tion marks, and the name and ad-
dress of the state - licensed estab-
14 shment to which all articles colic-
iced, received or picked up by such
agency are delivered for cleaning,
dyeing; renovating . or pressing, and
such certificate shall be endorsed
by such licensed establishment or
establishments. A duplicate of said
certificate, duly endorsed; shall be
kept posted in ,a conspicuous. place
in such clothes cleaning agency at
all tunes during which or same .is
maintained, operated or conducted.

Any change.'in the .name or ad-
dress of such licensed establish-
ment, or ownership thereof, or
other information contained within
such certificates shall be forthwith
evidenced on the face of each of
said duplicate certificates by the
person conducting, maintaining or
operating such clothes . cleaning
agency.
Sec. 12 -423. Clothes Cleaning
Vehicle Signs. It shall be unlawful
for any _person to operate, or per -
mit or direct the operation of, any
vehicle within the City of Ala7.neda
for the purpose of soliciting, re-
ceiving, acquiring or delivering
any wearing apparel, clothing, furs,
hats, fabrics. or other textiles or
materials, for the purpose of clean-
ing, dyeing, renovating or pressing
the same, or for. delivering to an-
other for such purpose, unless the
name of the state- licensed estab-
lishment where the cleaning is
done appears in letters at least
three (3) inches in height in a con-
spicuous place on each side of such
vehicle. If such vehicle is operated
by or for a clothes cleaning agency,
the name -of such agency shall also
be displayed :at least three (3) inch-
es in height on each side of said
vehicle.
SECTION 2. This ordinance shall
be in full force and effect from
and 3after the expiration of thirty
(310) days from the date of its
final passage.
