Ordinance 1525ORDINANCE 1525 AN ORDINANCE . AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING SECTION 9-146 THEREOF, REDUCING PERIOD WITHIN WHICH IM- POUNDED DOGS MAY BE REDEEMED FROM FIVE TO THREE DAYS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA: Section 1. That Section 9-146 of the Alameda Municipal Code be, and the same hereby is amended to read as follows: See. 9-146. Seizure and Dis- position of Untagged and Un- leashed Dogs—Redemption. Ev- ery dog found or being in any public street of said City and not being held or led by card, chain, or other thing, or con- fined in any vehicle, shall be taken by the Poundmaster to, and impounded in the Public Pound, where it may be re- deemed by the owner or per- sons theretofore entitled to the possession of it within three (3) days, excluding Saturday, Sun. day and holidays, thereafter, on payment to the Poundmaster of Five ($5,00) Dollars, and upon securing a vaccination as re- quired under this Code. If not so redeemed, such dog shall be killed and its remains disposed of by the Poundmaster, pro- vided, that the Poundmaster is authorized to keep valuable dogs and sell them, and his re- ceipt for the sale thereof, en- dorsed by the City Clerk, shall be a valid title to the purchaser. If a license tax has not been paid for the then current year for any impounded dog, the party redeeming must, before redemption, pay such license tax, provided, that in case of loss of tag, a duplicate of the same must be obtained as pro- vided in this Code, and an pres- entation of said duplicate tag the owner of said impounded dog shall be entitled to the possession of the same on pay- ment of fifty cents (50c) in ad- dition to the redemption fee and vaccination requirement above set forth. Whenever a dog is redeemed the party re- deeming must give to the Poundmaster •duplicate receipts acknowledging the redemption and a certificate showing a cur- rent vaccination. Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the expiration of thirty (30) days from the date of its final passage. GEORGE A. ROSE, Presiding Officer of the Council.
