Ordinance 1545Alameda City Ordinances Ordinance Na. 1545 New Series CITY CAE ALAMEDA Ordinance No. 1545 New Series AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING SECTION 11- 3118.1 THERETO, AND AMENDING SECTION 11 -3118 THE'RE'OF, REQUIRING UNDER - GROUNDING OF UTILITIES IN SUBDIVISIONS BE. IT ORDAINED BY T H E COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA: Section 1. Section 11- 31181 is hereby added to the Alameda Municipal Code to read as fol- lows: Sec. 11-31181. Underground Utility Facilities. (a) All electric, telephone, cable communications and all other utility facilities within the boundaries of the proposed subdivision or division of land shall be placed, installed and maintained underground ex- cept: (1) Transformers, t e r m i n a l cabinets, sectionalizing de- vice cabinets, meter cabi- nets, pedestals, concealed ducts and other facilities necessarily appurtenant to such utilities; (2) Poles or posts which sup- port street lighting sys- tems, fire alarm devices or traffic control signal ap- paratus; (3) Power transmission lines having a capacity in ex- cess of two thousand kilo- volt amperes (2,000 kva); (4) Express sections of power or communication lines which pass through a sub- division in which utilities are installed underground to reach a location where utilities are i n s t a l l e d aboveground, if the writ- ten consent of the Bureau of Electricity thereto be filed with the Planning Board. (5) Where an exception to such requirement is grant- ed pursuant to Sections 11-3134 or 11 -3135. (b) The subdivider shall be re- responsible f or compliance with this section and shall make the necessary cost and other arrangements with each public utility, including the Bureau of Electricity, for such underground installation in conformance with such utility's approved rules and regulations. Evidence of such arrangements shall be sup- plied to the City Engineer by the subdivider before the Final Map is filed with the Council. Section 2. Section 11 -3118 of the Alameda Municipal Code is here- by amended to read as follows; Sec. 11 -3118, Easements. The subdivider may be required by the Planning Board to grant easements not less than six (6) feet in width along each side of a rear lot line, and not less than five (5) feet in width along each side of side lot lines for public utility, sanitary sewer and drainage purposes, provided easements of lesser width may be allowed when approved by the City Engineer, after con- ferring with affected public utility systems. All power in- stallations shall be subject to rules and regulations promuI- gated by the Bureau of Elec- tricity. Section S. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after the expiration of thirty (30) days from the date of its final passage. WILLIAM S. GODFREY, Presiding Officer of the Council.
