Ordinance 1706Ordinance No. 1706 AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY AMENDING SECTIONS 2 -311, 2.312 AND SUBSEC- TIONS (2) AND (5) OF SECTION 2 -314 OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 3, TITLE 11 THEREOF, RELATING TO MEM- BERSHIP AND DUTIES OF THE CITY RECREATION COMMISSION BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUN- CILOFTHE CITY OF ALAMEDA: Section 1. Article 1, Chapter 3, Title I I of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending Sections 2 -311,2 -312 and Subsections (2) and(5)of Section 2 -314 thereof to read as follows: See. 2 -311. Commission Created- - Purpose, There is hereby created a commission which shall be known as the Recreation Commission of the City of Alameda, whose purpose shall be to advise, coordinate and give guidance to the acquisition, development, maintenance and operation of parks, playgrounds, and other recreational facilities in the City for the promotion of a sound Program of community recreation and avocational activities, using to the greatest practicable extent the land, equipment and personnel of the City of Alameda and of the Alameda Unified School District, Sec. 2 -312. Membership — Ap- pointment — Removal. Said Com- mission shall consist of five (5) regular members, and one (1) ex of- ficio member who shall be the City Manager of the City of Alameda and who shot I riot be entitledto vote at any meetings or Other proceedings. The five regular members shall, upon the nomination of the Mayor, be appointed by the City Council. The term of such members shall be for three (3) years and thereafter until the successor of such member is ap- pointed and qualified, and all terms shall begin on the first day of Oc- tober. A vacancy in the office of any such member shall be filled for the unexpired term by nomination and appointment in the manner heremabove set forth, A regular member may be removed by the affirmative vote of four (4) members of the City Coun- cil. Sec, 2 -314. Duties of Commis- sion, (2) Hold hearings and do all things necessary to inform itself with res- pect to the promotion and successful (operation of City recreational ac- tiveIIC (5) Establish necessary or proper regulations and rules to carry out the provisions of this Article including, but not limited to, the establishment of rates, fees, and charges in connec- tion with the use of facilities or par- ticipation in recreational programs. Sec.2.Thefive(5) members presently serving as Commissioners shall hold such positions for the terms heretofore designated for them, Section 3.
