Mayor Gilmore convened the meeting at 9:00 p.m.
Roll Call — Present: Councilmembers Bonta, Johnson, and Mayor Gilmore — 3.
[Note: Councilmember Tam recused herself.]
Absent: Councilmember deHaan — 1.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned to Closed Session to
consider:
(11 -271) Conference with Legal Counsel — Anticipated Litigation; Significant exposure to
litigation pursuant to Government Code Sec. 54956.9(b)(3)(C); The significant exposure
to litigation is connected to the filing of a claim by Lena Tam to be reimbursed for her
out of pocket legal expenses incurred in defending herself in a proceeding initiated by a
former City of Alameda special counsel with the Alameda County District Attorney which
the District Attorney rejected. A copy of the claim is available for public inspection in the
City Clerk's office.
Following the Closed Session, the meeting was reconvened and Mayor Gilmore
announced the Council was briefed on the claim and direction was provided to staff.
Adjournment
There being no further business, Mayor Gilmore adjourned the meeting at 1:30 a.m.
