Ordinance 1926CITY OF ALAMEDA ORDINANCE NO. 1926 New Series AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that: Section 1 . The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by repealing Section 17 -339 (Official Vehicles Designated Areas) thereof. Section 2 . The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending Subsection (19) of Section 17 -342 (Two -Hour Limit) and adding Subsection (52) to Section 17 -342, to read as follows: (19) Lincoln Avenue, on the northerly side thereof, between the easterly line of St. Charles Street and the westerly line of Bay Street, and between a point 54 feet east of the easterly line of Bay Street and a point 137 feet east of the easterly line of Sherman Street; and on the southerly side of Lincoln Avenue between the easterly line of St. Charles Street and a point 25.5 feet west of the westerly line of Bay Street, and between a point 20 feet east of the easterly line of Bay Street and a point 124 feet east of the easterly line of Sherman Street. (52) Santa Clara Avenue, on the southerly side thereof, beginning on a point 6 feet easterly from the east line of Chestnut Street and running thence 41.5 feet. -1- Section 3 . The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding Subsections (26) and (27) to Section 17 -344.1 (24- Minute Parking Limit) thereof, to read as follows: (26) Lincoln Avenue (Bay Street to St. Charles Street), commencing at a point in the (a) South curb line of Lincoln Avenue, 4.5 feet westerly from the west line of Bay Street and running thence westerly 20.8 feet. (27) Lincoln Avenue (Bay Street to Sherman Street), commencing at a point in the (a) North curb line of Lincoln Avenue, 23.5 feet easterly from the east line of Bay Street and running thence easterly 20.5 feet. (b) South curb line of Lincoln Avenue, from the east line of Bay Street and running thence easterly 20 feet. Section 4 . The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding Subsections (217) and (218) to Section 17 -432 (Stop Intersections) thereof, to read as follows: (217) Pearl Street and Calhoun Street, signs shall be erected on Pearl Street at or near the northwesterly and southeasterly corners of its intersection with Calhoun Street. (218) Versailles Avenue and Calhoun Street, signs shall be erected on Versailles Avenue at or near the -2- northwesterly and southeasterly corners of its inter- section with Calhoun Street. Section 5 . The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by repealing Subsections (17) and (18) of Section 17 -461 (Yield Right -of -Way Intersecticns) thereof. Section 6 . This ordinance is one of great necessity and urgency within the meaning of Section 3 -12 of the City Charter, is introduced and passed at the same Council meeting and shall become effective on June 21, 1978. Section 7 . The facts constituting the necessity and urgency hereof are: 1. That traffic regulations are essential for the orderly flow and control of traffic within the City. 2. That such regulations should necessarily be immediately effective on passage to insure that maximum preservation of public welfare is obtained. 3. That a potential health and safety problem will exist if such amendments are not immediately effective. 4. That, in light of such potential health and safety problems involved, the normal delay between enactment of this ordinance and its effective date would be injurious. 5. This Council hereby finds, determines and declares that it is in the best interest and necessity that this ordinance be introduced and passed at the regular meeting of the City Council held June 20, 1978, and that this ordinance become and be -3- in full force and effect June 21, 1978.
