Ordinance 1974CITY OF ALAMEDA ORDINANCE NO. 1974 New Series AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that: Section 1. Section 17-342 (Two-Hour Parking Limit) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending subsections (7) and (50) thereof to read as follows; (7) Encinal Avenue (Lafayette Street to Chestnut Street) (a) on the northerly side thereof between a point 34 feet east of the easterly line of Lafayette Street and a point 12 feet west of the westerly line of Chestnut Street. (b) On the southerly side thereof between the easterly line of Lafayette Street and a point 154 feet east of the easterly line of Chestnut Street. (50) Park Avenue (Central Avenue to Encinal Avenue) (a) On the westerly side thereof between a point 10 feet southerly from the south line of Central Avenue and the northerly line of Encinal Avenue. (b) On the easterly side thereof between a point 76 feet southerly from the south line of Central Avenue and the northerly line of Encinal Avenue. -1- Section 2 . Section 17 -344.1 (24- minute Parking Limit) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by amending sub- section (24) thereof to read as follows: (24) Lincoln Avenue (Oak Street to Walnut Street), commencing at a point in the (a) South curb line of Lincoln Avenue 13 feet westerly from the west line of Oak Street and running thence westerly 64 feet. Section 3 . Section 17 -432 (Stop Intersections) of the Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding subsections (223) and (225) thereto to read as follows: (223) Eagle Avenue with Willow Street, signs shall be erected on Eagle Avenue at or near the northeasterly and southwesterly corners of its intersection with Willow Street. (225) Washington Street with Pearl Street, signs shall be erected on Washington Street at or near the northeasterly and southwesterly corners of its intersection with Pearl Street. Section 4 . This ordinance is one of great necessity and urgency within the meaning of Section 3 -12 of the City Charter, is introduced and passed at the same Council meeting and shall become effective on May 23, 1979. Section 5 . The facts constituting the necessity and urgency hereof are: 1. That traffic regulations are essential for the orderly flow and control of traffic within the City. -2- 2. That such regulations should necessarily be immediate- ly effective on passage to insure that maximum preservation of public welfare is obtained. 3. That a potential health and safety problem will exist if such amendments are not immediately effective. 4. That, in light of such potential health and safety problems involved, the normal delay between enactment of this ordinance and its effective date would be injurious. 5. This Council hereby finds, determines and declares that it is in the best interest and necessity that this ordinance be introduced and passed at the adjourned regular meeting of the City Council held May 22, 1979, and that this ordinance become and be in full force and effect May 23, 1979.
