AUTHORIZING GRANT OF EASEMENT FOR PUBLIC UTILITY PURPOSES
TO PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC COMPANY (TIDELANDS EASEMENT)
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that:
Section 1 . The City of Alameda grant to Pacific Gas and
Electric Company, a California corporation, a public utility
easement in, over, under and along a strip of submerged lands
in the City of Alameda for the purpose of installing subaqueous
conduits and cables, with all necessary appliances, fixtures, and
protective devices necessary for use in connection with said
conduits and cables, for the transmission and distribution of
electric energy, said strip of submerged lands being situated
in the City of Alameda, County of Alameda, State of California,
described as follows:
A strip of land of the uniform width of 10 feet
extending from the common boundary line between said
City of Alameda and the City of Oakland, confirmed by
the Supreme Court of said State of California in said
County of Alameda April 29, 1926 southerly to the
L 1I northerly boundary line of the parcel of land described
in the quitclaim deed from Southern Pacific Company
to The United States of America dated December 4, 1944
N Q and recorded in Book 4652 of Official Records at page
y m 172, Alameda County Records, and lying 5 feet on each
side of the line which begins at a point in said
common boundary line and runs thence
(1) south 11 1 22.9' west approximately 105 feet
to a point herein for convenience called Point "B ";

(2) south 11 1 22.9' west approximately 245 feet
v to a point in said northerly boundary line; said
Point "B" bears south 5 ° 21.6' west 1472.5 feet distant
from the found City of Oakland monument shown upon the
Record of Survey filed for record July 25, 1975 in
Book 9 of Record of Surveys at page 100, Alameda County

Records, as marking the intersection of the monumented
lines extending along Second Street and Clay Street.
Section 2 . That the Mayor and City Clerk be, and each
hereby is, authorized and directed to execute and to attest to,
respectively, on behalf of the City of Alameda, a grant of said
easement to the Pacific Gas and Electric Company.
Section 3 . This ordinance is one of great necessity and
urgency within the meaning of Section 3 -12 of the City Charter,
is passed on May 20, 1980 and shall become effective on May 21,
1980.
Section 4 . The facts constituting the necessity and
urgency hereof are:
1. The easement is required by Pacific Gas and Electric
Company for an Oakland - Alameda Electric Cable Crossing to serve
the City of Alameda.
2. Immediate passage of this ordinance will permit PG & E
to begin preparations for the installation of the subaqueous
conduits and cables without unnecessary delay.
3. This Council hereby finds, determines and declares that
it is in the best public interest and necessity that this ordinance,

< meeting of the City Council held May 20, 1980, and shall become
