EMERGENCY ORDINANCE AMENDING CERTAIN PORTIONS OF THE
ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO TRAFFIC REGULATIONS
(STOP SIGNS NEAR THE INTERSECTION OF BALLENA BOULEVARD
AND COLA BALLENA)
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that:
Section 1 . Section 17 -432 (Stop Intersections) of the
Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by adding subsection
(227) thereto, to read as follows:
(227) Ballena Boulevard with Cola Ballena, signs
shall be erected on Ballena Boulevard near the southwest
corner of the Ballena Bridge and at or near the south-
easterly corner of its intersection with Cola Ballena.
Section 2 . This ordinance is one of great necessity and
urgency within the meaning of Section 3 -12 of the City Charter,
is introduced and passed at the same Council meeting and shall
become effective on June 4, 1980.
Section 3 . The facts constituting the necessity and
urgency hereof are:
1. That traffic regulations are essential for the orderly
flow and control of traffic within the City.
2. That such regulations should necessarily be immediately
effective on passage to insure that maximum preservation of public
welfare is obtained.

3. That a potential health and safety problem will exist
if such amendment is not immediately effective.
4. That, in light of such potential health and safety
problems involved, the normal delay between enactment of this
ordinance and its effective date would be injurious.
5. This Council hereby finds, determines and declares

that it is in the best interest and necessity that this ordinance
be introduced and passed at the regular meeting of the City
Council held June 3, 1980, and that this ordinance become and
be in full force and effect June 4, 1980.

and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in
regular meeting assembled on the 3rd day of June, 1980,

NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilman Tillman
