AMENDING THE ALAMEDA MUNICIPAL CODE BY ADDING
ARTICLE 6 TO CHAPTER 9 OF TITLE X THEREOF RELATING
TO INTERIM REVIEW OF OLDER BUILDINGS BY HISTORICAL
ADVISORY COMMISSION
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that:
Section 1 . The Alameda Municipal Code is hereby amended by
adding Article 6 to Chapter 9 of Title X thereof, to read:
ARTICLE 6 INTERIM REVIEW
Sec. 10 -961 " Older Buildings shall mean buildings
which were constructed at least 50 years prior to the date
of application for demolition permit.
Sec. 10 -962 Procedure
(a) The provisions of Section 10 -941 shall apply to
older buildings.
(b) The demolition permit shall be issued unless the
Secretary of the Historical Advisory Commission notifies the
City Engineer within fourteen (14) days from the filing of
the demolition permit that the structure(s) in question has
been placed on the Commission's agenda for review pursuant
to Section 10 -931. The Secretary shall make his or her best
effort to notify the City Engineer of his decision to place
the matter on the agenda or not as soon as possible.
(c) The demolition permit shall be issued unless the
Commission places the structure(s) in question on the list

of historical monuments pursuant to Section 10 -931 within
thirty (30) days of the filing of the demolition permit.
(d) Structures placed on said list pursuant to this
article shall be given credit for the time taken for interim
review in the application of Sections 10 -942, 10 -943 and
10 -944.
Section 2 . This ordinance shall be in full force and effect
from and after the expiration of thirty (30) days from the date
of its final passage.
