AN ORDINANCE REQUIRING A REFERENDUM FOR THE
DEVELOPMENT OF GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIZED RENTAL HOUSING
UNITS FOR FIVE YEARS (ADOPTED BY VOTE OF THE PEOPLE
ON NOVEMBER 2, 1982)
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE PEOPLE OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA as
follows:
Sec 1 . For a period of five years no more government
subsidized rental housing units shall be developed in the City
of Alameda, unless development of such rental units is first
approved by a majority of the voters in the City of Alameda.
Section 2 . Development of rental units for senior citizens
and the handicapped exclusively shall be exempt from this
ordinance.
Sectio 3. This ordinance shall be in full force and
effect ten (10) days from and after the declaration by the can-
vassing board of the result of the election held on November 2,
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Ordinance
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 7th of December, 1982,
by the following vote to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Diament, Gorman, Sherratt, Stone and President Corica -5.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
