DETERMINING THAT THE CITY COUNCIL SHALL NO LONGER SERVE
AS THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA
WHEREAS, as authorized by California Health and Safety Code Section
34290, the City Council of the City of Alameda, the governing body of the City of
Alameda, appointed itself as the Board of Commissioners of the Housing
Authority (AHA) pursuant to Resolution 9522, dated April 7,1981; and
WHEREAS, the Housing Commission, created pursuant to Health and
Safety Code Section 34291 to review and make recommendations as to the
operations of the Housing Authority, has recommended that the City Council no
longer function as the Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority; and
WHEREAS, the City Council agrees with the recommendation of the
Housing Commission; and
WHEREAS, Health and Safety Code Section 34293 provides that a City
Council that has declared itself to be the commissioners of a housing authority
determines that it shall no longer function in such capacity, the Mayor shall
appoint the members of the Board of Commissioners and the housing
commission shall no longer function.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of
Alameda, that the City Council shall no longer function as the Board of
Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the City of Alameda upon
appointment by the Mayor, subject to confirmation by the City Council, of
commissioners of the Housing Authority.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that upon appointment by the Mayor and
confirmation by the City Council of the commissioners of the Housing Authority,
the Housing Commission shall no longer function.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the forgoing Resolution was duly
and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in
regular meeting assembled on the 20th day of March, 2012, by the following vote
to wit:
AYES: Councilmembers Bonta, deHaan, Tam and
Mayor Gilmore — 4.
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilmember Johnson —
ABSTENTIONS: None.
