Resolution 13673CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. ACKNOWLEDGING ASSISTANT CITY MANAGER ROBERT L. WONDER FOR HIS CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE CITY OF ALAMEDA 13673 THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA records its appreciation for 28 years of service faithfully rendered by ROBERT L. WONDER, for the City of Alameda; and WHEREAS, ROBERT L. WONDER was first hired by the City in March, 1975 and rose to the position of Assistant City Manager in 1980; and WHEREAS, ROB WONDER has made significant contributions to the City of Alameda in his tenure, among those being: Rob served' as Interim City Manager several times. • Rob worked on the Cooperative Services Agreement with the U.S. Navy, successfully' negotiating $18 million of federal funding to the City to operate and maintain the base during the property transfer period and lobbying the Depatinient of Defense officials extensively. Rob worked with the Airport Operations Committee and the Citizens League for Airport Safety and Serenity. Rob has been a member of the Cable TV Advisory Committee. Rob has been extensively involved with the City's efforts to construct Alameda's new main library; and WHEREAS, In 1998, ROB WONDER received the Alameda Times Star an of the Year Award and the League of California Cities John H. Nail Memorial Award; and WHEREAS, ROB WONDER was honored as one of 1998's Distinguished Municipal Assistants by the Municipal Management Association of Northern California, of which he has been an active member since 1967; and WHEREAS, ROB WONDER served as a mentor in the Intergovernmental Management Training Program for twenty years; and WHEREAS, ROB WONDER has been extensively involved in community organizations and events. He has shown his commitment to the community by serving as a member and officer of the Board of Directors for numerous community organizations such as the Girls' Inc., Foundation for Educational Excellence, Rotary Club, Alameda Chapter of the Navy League, Chamber of Commerce and Immanuel Lutheran Church; and 1 WHEREAS, ROB WONDER has dedicated thousands of hours in volunteering for various community events and activities such as delivering meals for Meals on Wheels, the Annual Run for the Parks, the Mayor's Fourth of July parade, the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life, Career Days for local schools, various City festivals and beach clean -up days. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda does hereby congratulate Robert L. Wonder for his outstanding achievement in his service to the City of Alameda and recognizes him for his commitment and exceptional contributions to this City and to the profession. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the City of Alameda does hereby congratulate Robert L. Wonder on his many years of service to the citizens of Alameda and extends its deepest gratitude to him for his many labors on behalf of the City of Alameda.
