AUTHORIZING THE AWARD OF A CONTRACT TO
BISSELL & KARN, INC. FOR THE DESIGN OF
DOOLITTLE DRIVE WIDENING FROM ISLAND DRIVE TO
HARBOR BAY PARKWAY
WHEREAS, the Alameda City Council at its meeting of
October 3, 1989 approved a grant application for Federal Aid Urban
grant funds for Doolittle Drive, State Route 61, widening from
Island Drive to Harbor Bay Parkway; and
WHEREAS, the Alameda City Council at its meeting of
November 21, 1989 appropriated funds from Harbor Bay Isle
Transportation Improvement Fund and from Measure B Funds to provide
matching local share for the Doolittle Drive Widening Project; and
WHEREAS, the environmental assessment for the project has
been completed and approved by the Federal Highway Administration
Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, by letter dated December 4, 1989, the Public
Works Department requested proposals from five firms for
professional engineering services to perform all of the engineering
work necessary to prepare plans, specifications and engineer's
estimate for Doolittle Drive, all to California Department of
Transportation standards; and
WHEREAS, the requests for proposal directed that the
contract would be awarded to the consultant deemed most qualified
with prices and other factors considered.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City_
of Alameda that the City Manager and the City Clerk be, and eachq T-
hereby is, authorized and directed to execute and to attest
respectively, on behalf of the City, a contract with Bissell .0]
Karn, Inc. for the design of Doolittle Drive widening from Island '
Drive to Harbor Bay Parkway.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution
was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the
City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 16th day of -
January , 1990, by the following vote to wit:
