Resolution 12102CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION NO. 12102 DECLARING MAY 19-25, 1991 NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK WHEREAS, the annual observance of National Public Works Week was established in 1960 with the goal of increasing awareness of the public works profession; and WHEREAS, "Quality of Life Through Public Works" is not just the theme for National Public Works Week but a commitment to enhance the quality of life in cities and towns by public works professionals; and WHEREAS, objectives include: 1. Increasing citizens' understanding of public works, the problems encountered in providing public works, and how problems can be overcome. 2. Promoting awareness of the need for public works professionals and the contributions they make to our health, safety and comfort. 3. Inspiring excellence and dedication in public service by-'T, recognizing outstanding public works engineers, administrators, an < clerical support staff and their achievements. 0.1 4. Encouraging talented young people to prepare for careerqp: Gel in public works and acquainting them with the challenges anc121-.(, opportunities in the field. BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Alameda that said Council hereby declares May 19-25, 1991 as Public Works Week. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the seventh of May, 1991, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Lucas, Roth and President Withrow - 5.
