Resolution 12151CITY OF ALAMEDA RESOLUTION 12151 REQUESTING CONSOLIDATION OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA'S SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 1992 WITH THE CALIFORNIA STATE PRIMARY ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, JUNE 2, 1992 WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Alameda has called for a special municipal election to be held on June 2, 1992 for the purpose of submitting to the electors of the City of Alameda an amendment to the City Charter; and WHEREAS, the City Council desires that said special municipal election be consolidated with the statewide primary election to be held on the same date. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that the City Council hereby requests the Alameda County Board of Supervisors consolidate the City's June 2, 1992 special municipal election with the June 2, 1992 statewide primary election and any future general municipal elections with the statewide general elections should the proposed Charter amendments be approved by the voters. o LU CC BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alameda County Board of C) Supervisors, be, and it is hereby requested to make its order and to take such other and further proceedings as may be necessary to effect the consolidation of said special municipal election with the statewide primary election and any future general municipal elections with the statewide general elections as proposed in the June 2, 1992 Charter amendments, all in accordance with the laws of the State of California regulating and providing for the consolidation of elections. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Alameda County Board of Supervisors is hereby authorized and empowered to canvass the returns of said special municipal election and any future general municipal election should the proposed Charter amendment be approved by the voters and to certify the results thereof, that only one form of ballot shall be used, and that said consolidated elections shall be held in all respects as if there were only one election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that consolidated elections shall be held and conducted, election officers appointed, voting precincts designated, candidates nominated, ballots printed, polls opened and closed, ballots counted and returned, returns canvassed, results declared, certificates of election issued and all other proceedings incidental to and connected with the election shall be regulated and done, in accordance with the provisions of the law regulating the statewide or regularly scheduled election. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the exact form of the measure to be voted on at said special election, and as the same is to appear on the ballot, is as follows: MEASURE Proposed Charter Amendment of the City of Alameda. Shall the City Charter of the City of Alameda be amended so that the General Municipal Election will be held on the : YES : date of and consolidated with the statewide general election in each even - numbered : NO year and the terms of the current Mayor and members of the City Council, City Auditor, City Treasurer and Board of Education will be shortened by approximately four to five months? BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the measure hereinabove referred to shall be designated on the ballot as "Proposed Charter Amendment of the City of Alameda." BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Clerk is hereby directed to file immediately a certified copy of this resolution with the Alameda County Board of Supervisors and with the Alameda County Clerk. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly adopted and passed by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the third of September, 1991, by the following vote to wit: AYES: Councilmembers Arnerich, Camicia, Lucas, Roth and President Withrow - 5.
