Resolution 00844RESOLUTION NOE 844. ROVIDING TOR TEE SUBMISSION GM AN INITIATIVE PENSION ORDINANCE. WEERAS mega:era of the police and fire, departments have requested. the council to submit to a vote of the electors at the general municipal election to be held Tuesday, March 10, 1925, a pension ordinance which they propose as a substitute for the pension ordinance recently passed by the council, and the council having agreed' to submit the same as requested, under the provisions of Article II, section 13 of the city charter, AND THEREAE, a copy of said proposed ordinance untitled An ordinance providing for a relief, health, life insurance and pension fund for members of the Or end polacc departments of the aity of Alameda; also for the administration of said fund", has been filed with the city clerk, now therefore be it HT5OLITE5 by the Council of the City of Alameda that there te submitted to the people without a Petition therefor the proposition for the enactment of such now ordinance, to be voted upon at the next general municipal election to be held in said city on Tues- day, March 10, 192b. The persons filing said ordinance shall have the right, if they so desire, to present and file therewith a written argument in support thereof not exceeding 3C0 words in length, which argument shall Le printed on the sample ballot issued for said election. Upon the same 7I lot shall also be printed any argument of not exceeding 300 words in length in opposition thereto, which may te prepared by the council of said city. ''he clerk of the council shall cause said or35nance to be printed and he shall mail a copy thereof enclosed in an envelope with the sample ballot to each rater at least 10 days prior to said election. If the proposition so submitted receives a majority of the votes cast thereon et said election,said ordinance shall bc enacted accordingly, and gQ into effect 10 days after the declaration by the canvassing board of the result of said elec- tion.
