Resolution 01328RESOLUTION NO. 1329 .221UTHCRIZMG CHARLES R. SMITH TO COMPILE U.S. VETERANS HONOR ROLL. WHEREAS, there is no question in the min of the citizens of the City of Alameda of the desirability and importance not only to the present generation but for the future generations, of having on file in the City Clerk's office in the Oity Hall ,of the City of Alameda, California, e complete list of the names and records of those from the City of Alameda who served in the United States Army, Navy or Marine Corps in the Spanish American and 7orld Wars, and WHEREAS, the list or lists now in the poeeession of the City Clerk of Alameda are incomplete, detached lists left with the City Clerk when the work was completed by the Draft Board and the Citizen's Home-Coming Reception Committee at the close of the aiorld war and many names are missing from these lists and no record of service, deaths, citatione, et., etc., and WHEREA3, Chas. R. Smlth, a citizen of Alameda, who was chairman of the Home-Coming Reception Committee of our City and who has had a vast experience in matters relative to the Ex-service men, has offered his services of nninea to compile a liet/With their records, of those who went from the City of Alameda and served in the United States Army, Navy or Marine Corps, in the Spanish. American or world Ware, and this list shall embrace, as far as possible, all who saw service, by search in the archives in the office of the adjutant Ceneral of the united. States Army, washingion, D.O. , and also in the office of the Adjutant General of the State of California, besides euch other means of obtaining these names, as are offered or found, now therefore be it RESOLVED, by the City Counoil of the City of Alameda, California, that Chas. R. Smith of Alameda is hereby appointed to compile, as for and as completely es it is possible to do so, a complete list of the names and the records of each, as far as obtainable of those who went from the City of Alameda into the service of the united States Army, Navy or Marine Corps in the Spanish American War and the World War and the said list and records to be called the Roll of Honor of Alameda City, and be it further RESOLVED, that Chas. R. Smith is to reoeive the sum of One Dollar ($1.00 in full for his services in this work with the authority to use the name of the City of Alameda in his obtaining information relative to this Roll of Honor, nnd be it further .RESOLVED, that the Oity Clerk of Alameda be instructed to furnish Chas. Smith with e reasonable amount of stationary and typing as it is needed by him in this work, not to exceed in cost, the sum of Fifty Dollars (150.00). R. Resolution was of the City of February, 1929, president Otis, I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 5th day of by the following vote, to-wit: AYES: Councilmen Oalcutt, Latham, Neies, Noble and (5).
