Resolution 01418RESOLUTION NO. 1418 EXPRESS:NC CONPIDENCE II THE BOARD 32 iTBLIC UTILITIES. WHEREAS, the Board of Public Utilitioe of the City of Alameda has been publicly criticised for its recentaction in awarding the contract for electric light pules on Webster Street, and WHEREAS, it appears that tho aotion of the board was prompted eolely by the desire to eecere the greateet amount of competitive biddiege and the notice inviting sealed proposals was prepared by the city uttorney, who edvieed the board that the practice of inviting alternate bide on dif- ferent materials wee followed by many public bodice, including the board of supervisors of our own Coreety of Alameda, and WHEREAS, it appears that the Board of enblic Utilities acted wise- ly under the circumetances and ler the beet interests of the people and taxpayers of the city, beeides being entirely within their legal rights, now therefore be it RE5OLVED, by the City Counoil of the City of Alameda that, in the opinion of said council, the attacks cede on oer Board of Public Utilitieu are wholly unjust and without any warrant whatsoever. RESOLVED I'URTHRR, that we take this opportunity of expressing our complete confidence in sod board, and we believe that the people of Alameda are exce ^e+ ngly fortunate in securing the servieee of the men who are now devoting their time end attention to the work of the beard without one cent of compensation. RESOLVED, that these resolutions be spread upon the minutes ead records of ths council, and e copy thereof sent to the members of said board.
