RESOLUTION THAT A SUFFICIENT APPROPRIATION BE MADE
BY CONGRESS TO PROVIDE FOR THE DREDGING OUT OF TEE
200 FOOT SETBACK ON THLT SOUTH SIDE OF SOVERNNENT
ISLAND.
WHEREAS, on or about Nevhmber IC, 1930; the City of Alameda deeded to
the United States of America fifteen. acres of land, situFda on Government Island,
and one of the implied covenants of said grunt was that the channel along the
southern water front be widened at least 200 feet, within a reasonable time after
delivery of said grant; and
WHEREAS, it appears necessary that the dredging, out of the 200 foot setback
en the south side of Government Island be done in order to assist in the necessary
development of the property; and
WHEREAS, it appears that the need for docking facilities and the marine
railway is urgent for toe Coast Guard especially; and
WHEREAS, it further appearing that there is no controversy between the
Cities of Alameda and Oakland relative to the Proposed 200 foot setback on the
Alameda side for the necessary widening of the channel; now, therefore,
5E IT RESOLVED, by the Council of the Oity'of Alameda, that a sufficient
appropriation be made by Congress in the 1932 Budget to provide for the dredging .
out of the 200 foot setback on the south side of Government Island, in order to
assist in the satisfactory development of the property, and that a copy of this
resolution be forwarded to the Coordinator, Ninth Area 433 Customhouse, San Fran-
cisco, California.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoinw, Resolution was
duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda
in special meeting assembled on the 23rd day of February, 1932, by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES; Councilmen Leydecker, Morris, Sasinly and President Murray, (4).
NUNS: None.
ABSENT: Councilman Schaefer, (1);
