Resolution 01873RESOLUTION NO. 1873, AUTHORIZING PERFOREAMCE AND COMPLETION OF PROTECT FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF MAITLAND DRIVE, AND DIRECTIEG, 707 CLERK TO ADVEIEISE, FOR SEALED BIDS. WHEREAS the City of Alameda, pursuant to rules and regulations promulgated for administering the provisions of Chapter 767, Statutes of 1933, relating to the allocation. and expenditures from State Highway and of an amount equal to one-quarter of one cent her gallon. tax or motor vehicle fuel within incorporated cities, sub- mitted to the Director of Pablic Works of the State of California its project for the improvement, under the provisions of said Act, of Maitland. Drive in. said City, from Day Farm Island Bridge, a length of 3450 feet plus,(.65 mils) southerly, con- sisting of the resurfacing of the existing pavement, setting redwood header boards to grade and paving the present road-bed with four inch asphaltic concrete and non- skid wearing surface, and a three foot quarry run waterbound macadam shoulder, and roadway excavation, and WHEREAS said project and construction work therein contemplated has been app- roved by said Direct of Public Works, and the moneys required to cover the cost of said project have been allocated, and the expenditure thereof authorized and app- roved, and a contract or "Memorandum of Agreement" was heretofore on the 18th day of Jane, 1934, jointly executed by the City of Alanda end the Department of Public Works of the State of California, and WTERHAS plans and specifications for the improvem ent and work harainbefore referred to have been prepared by, and are now on file in the office of the City Engineer of the City of Alameda, and have been approved by said Director of Public Works, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY TEE COUNCIL OF 31 03737 00 ALAMEDA, that the performance and completion of the work specified in said project be, and the same is hereby, authorized. BE IT 3701 01 RESOLVED that the City Clerk be, and he is hereby authorized and directed to advertise for sealed bids for the, furnishing of labor and material re- quired for the completion of said project and improvement, in accordance with said plans and specifications. EE IT FURTHER RESOLVED tbat each. bid shall be accompanied by a certified check, on a responsible bank, in a sum equal to tan per cant (105) of the aggregate amount of the bid, payable to the 0113 07 Alameda, to be forfeited to said Ci'yy es agreed end liquidated demacres should the party or parties to whom the contract shall be awarded fail, for a period of thirty days from such award, to enter into a contract for the performance and completion of such work, or to give bonds as required by law and by the specifications hereinabove referred to. DE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that such sealed bids will be received by the City Clerk of the City of Alameda at his, office until Tuesday, the 16th day of October, 1934, at 8:00 o'clock P. M. el said day. All bids must be in writing.
