APPROPRIATING 0250 FROM THE ADVERTISING FUND IN RE PAN
AMERICAN AIRWAYS
WHEREAS, at the celebration of the inaugural of the Transpaeific Air Mail
Serviee, which is to be held by the East Bay cities on Thursday and Friday,
November 21 and 22, 1935, an opportunity will be afforded to the City of Alameda
for broadcasting said inauguration by an international radio hookup from the
Hotel Oakland, and another international radio hookup from the Pan American
Airways in the City of Alameda, on the day following, at which announcement is to
be made and broadcast throughout the world advertising the City of Alameda as the
place of arrival and departure of said Transpacific air mail service; and
WHEREAS, the ceremonies inaugurating said service are to be participated in
by Poastmaster General 0-ernes A. Farley, Governor Frank F. Merriam, and City offic-
ials of the City of Alameda, bringing nationwide publicity to the City; and,
WHEREAS, additional publicity to the City of Alameda as the place of arrival
and departure of said Transpacific air mail service will be given through the
newspapers and other printed matter; and,
PHEREAS, the East Bay Committee in charge of the ceremonies and celebration
in relation to this event has requested that Alameda contribute the sum of 0250
from the advertising fund of the city, a like sum being also contributed by the
City of Oakland and the County of Alameda; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, by the Council of the City of Alameda, that the sum of 0250 be, and
the same is hereby, appropriated from the advertising fund of the City of Alameda
for advertising said City through said celebration, said appropriation being made
upon the express understanding and condition that the City of Alameda receive the
advertising as specified in the aforementioned rreamble to this resolution.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution wao duly
and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in
regular meeting assembled on the 19th day of November, 1935, by the following
vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Broyles, Eschen, Munro and President Roebke, (I).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: Councilman Morris, (1).
