ORDERING RETURN OF TUE CASHIER'S CHECK. CF $1050 TO J.J.GRODEM,
UPON PAYNENT OF THE Ela'ENSES TO WHICH HE SUBJECTED THE' CITY.,
WHEREAS, on December 9, 1935, the Council of the City of Alameda passed
Resolution No. 2016 recommending the awarding of a contract to J. J. Grodem as low
bidder for the construction of a branch public library buildieg in said city, pur-
suant to proceedings under au by virtue of which a grant of $13,117 was made to the
City -by the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works; and
WHEREAS, on account of numerous irregularities appearing in connection
with said bid, the matter was referred to a special conzdttee for investigation and
report, which report is expressly referred to and made a at hereof; and,
WHEREAS, said Committee found that the check accompanying the bid of said
J. Grodem vas not sufficient in amount; also that he did not furnish the proper
statement regarding the employment of labor; also that he did not submit a proper
financial report with his bid, or show financial responsibility; and
WHEREAS, said committee recommended that the cashier's check of $1050
furnished by said J. J. Grodem be retained until he paid the expenses incurred by
the dity as a result of his action; and,
WHEREAS, it has-been ascertained that said exnenses amount to $121.16, the
cost of printing the Notice to Contractors; now, therel'ore, be it
RESOLVED, that the cashier's check of 41050 aocompanying the hid of said
J. J. Grodem he returned to him upon his payment to the Gity Clerk of the sum of
$121.16 to cover the expenses to which the city has been subjected as the result of
his bid.
I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was
duly' and regularly introduced and adoeted by the Gouucil of the City of Alameda in
regular meeting assembled on the 21st day of January, 1936, by the following vote,
to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Broylee, Eschen, Munro and President Roebke, (4).
NOES: None,
ABSENT; Councilman 11'orris, (1)'.
