RE IMPROVEInENT OF MAITIAND AND OTIS DRIVES
WHEREAS, bids or proposals were heretofore received by the Council for
the improvement of Maitland Drive; and,
WHEREAS, if has since developed that a sharp curve on said Drive should
be eliminated before proceeding with the improvement thereof; and,
WHEREAS, it has also developed that public interest would be better served
by first completing the improvement of Otis Drive before going ahead with any
provements on Maitland Drive; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, that all bids heretofore received for the improvement of Maitland
Drive be rejected, and all certified checks accompanying said bids be returned. to the
respective bidders;
RESOLVED further that the City Manager be, and he is hereby, instructed
to confer at once with authorized representatives of the State Highway Commission and
arrange, if possible, for securing their consent to the use of gas tax money for com-
pleting the improvemeet of Otis Drive before proceeding with the straightening and
paving of Maitland Drive, providing the total amount of available funds will be
sufficient therefor.
RESOLVED, that the City Manager report the result of his conference with
the representatives of the State, Highway Commission as soon as possible.

and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular
meeting assembled on the 6th day of May, 1936, by the following vote, to wit:
AYES: Councilmen Broyles; Eschen, Morris, Munro and President Boebke, (5).
NOES: None.
ABSENT: None.
