Resolution 02116RESOLUTION NO. 2116 DECLARING RESULT OF GENERAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION WHEREAS a general municipal election was held inthe City of Alameda on Tuesday, November 3, 1936, under and pursuant to the provisions of Article XI of the Charter of said City, for the purpose of electing officers to fill the offices of Councilman, Auditor, Treasurer, Commissioner on the Board of Public Utilities Commis- sioners and Commissioner on the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners, of the City of Alameda, for terms as follows: follows: FOR THE OFFICE OF COUNCILMAN Seven (7) Councilmen on the Council of said City, for terms as Three (3) Councilmen fur three (3) long terms, each beginning at 8:00 o'clock p.m, on the third Monday in April, 1937, and ending on the Third Monday in December, 1940, and until their respective suocessors are elected and qualified. Two (2) Counoilmen for two (2) short terms, each beginning upon the declaration of the result of the official canvass of said general municipal election, and ending on the third Monday in December, 1938, and until their respective successors are elected and qualified. Two (2) Councilmen for two (2) short terms, each beginning on the declaration of the result of the official canvass of said general municipal election, and ending at 8:00 o'clock p.m. on the third Monday in April, 1937, FOR THE OFFICE CF AUDITOR One Auditor, to fill the office now held by F. J. Croll, for a term beginning at 8:00 o'clock p.m. on the third Monday in April, 1937, and ending on the third Monday in December, 1940, and until his successor is elected and quali- fied. FOR THE OFFICE OF TREASURER One (1) Treasurer, to fill the office now held by Homer R. Dallas, for a termbeginning et 8:00 o'clock p.m. on the third Monday in April, 1937, and ending on the third Monday in December, 1940, and until his successor is elected and qualified. FOR THE OFFICE OF COMMISSIONER ON THE BOARD OF PUBLIC UTILITIES COMMISSIONERS Two (2) Commissioners on the Board of Public Utilities Commissioners, each of whom shall hold office for the full term of four years, and until his successor is elected and qualified. FOR Thl OFFICE OF 001aISSIONER ON THE BOARD OF POLICE AND FIRE COOUSSIONERS One (1) Commissioner on the Board of -Police and Fire Commieeioners, to hold office for the full term of four years, and until his successor is elected and qualified, and WHEREAS nominating petitions were duly filed and presented to the City Clerk in the time, form and manner prescribed by Sections 5 and 6 of said Article XI, nomin- ating for said offices the following persons, to-wit: For the office of Councilman: William R. Calcutt A. C. Carrington Milton C. Godfrey Fred L. Krumb Rix Maurer Bert W. Morris Henry A. Weichhart For the office of Auditor: Fred E. Croll For the office of Treasurer Homer R. Dallas For the office of Commissioner on the Board of Public Utilities Commissioners: John M. O'Dea Charles " M. Romanoxitz For the office of Commissioner on the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners: David C. Moses, and WHEREAS said nominations were entered in a list, with the offices to be filled, which list was certified to in the time: form and manner required by Section 8 of said Article XI, whereupon an election proclamation, stating the time of the election,the offices to be filled, end the names of the oandidates, signed by the mayor and attested by the City Clerk, was duly and regularly published, more than ten days before said election, three times in The Alameda Journal, the official paper of said City, and WHEREAS said general municipal election was, pursuant to law, and by res- olution and order of the City Council of said City, and of the Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda, State of California, duly and regularly consolidated with the general state election to be held on the same day within the City of Alameda, and WHEREAS by resolution No. 2101 of the City Council of said City of Alameda, being the resolution calling said general municipal election, the Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda, State of California, was duly and regularly authorized to canvass the returns of said general municipal election, and to certify the returns thereof to this Council, and WHEREAS said general municipal election was duly and regularly held in said City on the 3rd day of November, 1936, and the returns of said election were, in accordance with law in such Vises made and provided, duly and regulerly canvassed by the Board of Supervisors of the County of Alameda, and the County Clerk of said County having certified to the City Clerk of the City of Alameda, and to this Council, and it having been duly found, determined and declared by said Board of Supervisors, and by this Counoil, that the total number of votes cast in the City of Alameda for the persons nominated, and other persons voted for, for said offices of said City of Alameda at said general municipal election are as follows: 1. Total number of votes cast in the City of Alameda were - 17686. 2. Total number of votes cast in the City of Alameda for each of the afore- said candidates for the office of Councilman of said City for full and unexpired terms: rt W. Norris 11097 Milton C. Total number of votes cast in the City of Alameda for candidate for the office of ;Auditor of said City: Fred J. Croll 11343 4. Total number of votes cast in the City of Alameda for candidate for the office of Treasurer of said City: Homer R. Dallas 10916 5. Total number of votes cast in the City of Alameda for the office of. Commissioner on the Board of Public Utilities Commissioners of said City: John M. O'Dea 9997 Charles W.Romanowitz 9080 6. Total number of votes cast in the City of Alameda for the office of Com- missioner on the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners of aid City: David C. Moses 9838 NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND DECLARED, that the aforesaid Bert W. Morris, Milton C. Godfrey and. A. C. Carrington, having received respectively the highest number of votes oast for the office of Councilman, were, and are hereby , declared to be, duly and regularly elected as members of the Council of the City of Alameda, each for a term beginning at 8:00 o'clock p.m. on the third Monday in April, 1937, and ending on the third Monday in December; 1940, and until their successors ere elected and qualified. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND DECLARED, that the aforesaid Henry A. Weichhart and Rix Maurer, having received the next highest number of votes cast at said election for the office of Councilman, were, and are hereby declared to be duly and regularly elected as members of the Council of the City of Alameda, each for a term beginning on this date, and ending on the third Monday in Deeember,1938, and until their successors are elected and qualified. BE IT FURTH7R RESOLVED, DETERMINED .ND DECIARED, that the aforesaid Fred L. Krumb and William R. Calcutt, having received the next highest number of votes cast at said election for the office of Councilman, were, and are hereby declared to be duly and regularly elected as members of the Council of the City of Alameda, each for a term beginning on this date, and ending on the third Monday in April, 1937, and until their successors are elected and qualified. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND 'DECLARED, that the aforesaid Fred J. Croll, having received the highest number of votes cast for the office of Auditor of the City of Alameda, was, and is hereby declared to be duly and regularly elected Auditor of the City of Alameda for a term beginning at 8:00 o'clock p.m. on the third Monday in April, 1937, and ending on the third Monday in December, 1940, and until his successor is elected and qualified. BE IT FURTER RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND DECLARED, that the aforesaid Homer R. Dallas, having received the highest number of votes cast for the office of Treas- urer of the City of Alameda, was, and is hereby declared to be,duly and regularly elected Treasurer of the City of Alameda for a term beginning at 8:00 o'clock p.m. on the third Monday in April, 1937, and ending on the third Monday in December,1940, and until his successor is elected and qualified. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, DETERMINED ANL DECLARED that the aforesaid John Y. O'Dea and Charles M. Romanowitz, having received the highest number of votes cast for the office of Commissioner on the Board of Public Utilities Commissioners of the City of Alameda, were, and are hereby declared to be, duly and regularly elected as members of the Board of Iublic Utilities Commissioners of the City of Alameda, each for a term as prescribed by law. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, DETERMINED AND DECLARED that the aforesaid David C, Moses, having received the highest number of votes cast for the office of Commissioner on the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners of the City of Alameda, was, and is hereby declared to be, duly and regularly elected as a member of the Board of Police and Fire Commissioners of the City of Alameda, for a term as prescribed by law. * * * 0 * * e * I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alameda in regular meeting assembled on the 17th day of November, 1936, by the following vote, to wit: AYES: 0011E011MS/1 Carrimgton, Godfrey, Morris, Weiohhart and President Eschen, (5).
