Resolution 02126RESOLUTION NO. 2126 APPROVING DISCONTINUANCE OF BUS SERVICE UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS. WHEREAS, the Department of Public Utilities is engaged in the operation of certain bus lines for the carriage of passengers for hire in the City of Alameda, which lines are known as the West End Route and the Bay Farm Island Route; and WHEREAS, East Bay Transit Company owns and operates a system of street railway and motor coach lines in the Counties of Alameda and Contra Costa serving ten munici- palities therein with a unified transportation system; and WHEREAS, East Bay Transit Company is about to file an application with the Railroad Commission of the State of California for a certificate of Public Convenience and Necessity to operate a motor coach service over said West End Route and said Bay Farm Island Route, as a substitute for and in lieu of the bus service now operated by said Department; and WHEREAS, in the event that the application of said East Bay Transit Company be granted and that said bus service be operated by said comcany, it will be in the public interest that the bus routes now operated by the Department of Public Utilities be discontinued; and WHEREAS, the Board or Public Utilities has agreed to discontinue and abandon its bus service upon the commencement of service by East Bay Transit Company; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that the discontinuance and abandonment of the bus service operated by the Department of Public Utilities in the City of Alameda over the routes known as the West End Route amd the Bay Farm Island Route, conditional upon the commencement of motor coach service over said routes by East Bay Transit Company, be and is hereby endorsed and approved; and. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the application of East Bay Transit Company to the Railroad Commission of the State of California for e certificate of public con- venience and necessity to operate said routes be and is hereby approved, and that the City Attorney of the City of Alameda be authorized and instructed to appear before the Railroad Commission in support of said application; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a certified copy of this resolution be trans- mitted to the Railroad Commission of the State of California. I, the undersigned, hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution was duly and regularly introduced and adopted by the Council of the City of Alaneda in regular meeting assembled on the 15th day of December, 1936, by the following vote, to wit; AYES; Councilmen C NOES: None.
