Resolution 02146RESOLUTION O. 2146 APPROPRIATING $1000 TO DEFRAY EKPENSES OF INTERURBAN TRANSPORTATION OMMITTEE PIEREAS a committee heretofore appointed to study and report upon means of establishing adequate communication between the City of Alameda and the eastern terminal of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, heretofore presented to this Council its final report dated February 14, 1937, and WHEREAS pursuant to the recommendations contained in said report, and the provisions of Resolution 2136 of this Council, an Interurban Transportation Committee was appointed, consisting of Public Utilities Commissioners E. W. N. Bowes and John M. O'Dea, Councilmen-elect, A. G. Carrington and Milton Godfrey, City Manager, Charles R. Schwanenhert, City Engineer, George Sperbeck, John J. Muivanya James E. Hall and Jesse L. Delanoy, and WHEREAS ferry service is about to be abandoned, and interurban orzonsportation service between the City of Alameda and the City of San Francisco is about to be re- routed circuitously via the Fruitvale Bridge to the San Franeisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, to the great detriment of the City of Alameda, and WHEREAS it is lanerative that adequate means of communication and transeorta- tion be provided between the City of Alameda and the eastern termdaal of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, and that the project recommended in said report, namely, the construction of a high level bridge over the Estuary, be expedited with utmost haste, and WHEREAS it will be necessary, in order to accomplish said objective, that the Interurban Transportation Committee confer and advise with such other Governmental agencies as may be jointly interested in said project, and to make further investigations and compile further data for submission to this Council and to the proper County, State and Federal Governmental agencies, and certain expenditures will necessarily be incur- red therefor, NOW THEREFORE, HE 1 RESOLTED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ALAMEDA that the sum of $1000 be, and is hereby appropriated from the Contingent Fund of the City, Account No. 70-b, tO a new Interurban Transportation Committee Accouat, to defray all necessary and lawful exhenditures to be incurred by said Committee for the acoorrelish- ment of the purposes aforesaid, said. expenditures to be made under the supervision and direction, ond with the approval of, the City Manager, and the Treasurer and Auditor are hereby authorized and directed to make the aforesaid tranafer on their respective books.
